Man Accused Of Bank Fraud In Darien: Police
Police said they responded to a bank on the Post Road in Darien on April 12 on a report of a possible identity theft in progress.
DARIEN, CT — A 46-year-old man was arrested on April 12 after police say he tried to fraudulently open an account at a bank in Darien.
Wesley Gabriel, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with third-degree forgery, interfering with an officer, third-degree identity theft and criminal personation, police said in a crime summary report.

Officers were advised that a man was trying to open a bank account with fraudulent identificaiton and was attempting to leave, police said.
When officers made contact with the man, he refused to identify himself or answer any questions, police said.

The man, who was later identified as Gabriel, tried to open an account with a current cstomer's identification, police said, noting that Gabriel had identification with the customer's information.
Gabriel is scheduled to appear in court on May 2.
