Police said a man wearing blue hospital scrubs and a hospital bracelet entered a home in Darien and stole a car before crashing it.
DARIEN, CT — A New York man was arrested on April 20 after police say he entered a Darien home and stole a woman's car before crashing it nearby.
Diamond Samuel, 24, of Brooklyn, was charged with third-degree burglary, larceny of a motor vehicle, second-degree criminal trover and fourth-degree larceny, police said in a crime summary update.
On April 20, police responded to Lakeside Avenue near West Avenue on a report of a car accident. Officers found a man, later identified as Samuel, in the driver's seat of one of the cars involved, police said.

"Diamond would not identify himself to officers and asked them if they knew anything about 'hydraulics' and pointed to the vehicle’s stick shift, which officers realized he was having trouble driving. The officers noticed that Diamond was dressed in blue hospital scrubs with a hospital bracelet on," police said. "When asked where he was coming from, Diamond pointed to a residence on Lakeside Avenue. It was determined that the vehicle belonged to an address on Lakeside Avenue. The homeowner arrived on scene shortly after."
Police said the homeowner did not know who Samuel was, and that the homeowner leaves her keys to the car in the kitchen.

"While inside the home, the homeowner told officers that a drink on a table was not hers," police said. "The homeowner stated that an IPad was missing with a white case, which Diamond was holding. Diamond was also wearing a jacket that belonged to the homeowner."
Officers determined that Samuel entered the home through an unlocked door and stole the car before crashing it.
Samuel was held on a $10,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on May 6.
