An investigation found that the camera was concealed beneath a sink, and it was placed there the day before, police noted. Darien Police Sgt. Vigil Mauricio told Patch the camera was in a single-stall gender-neutral bathroom.

"Through forensic analysis of the device and corroborating evidence, the suspect was identified as Eric Gaucher," police said, noting that Gaucher was not an employee of the business. "The camera contained video files capturing unsuspecting individuals using the restroom, as well as deleted footage that provided a clear identification of the suspect. As no faces were captured on the video footage, no individuals could be identified."
