Man Accused Of Siphoning Used Cooking Oil Arrested: Darien Police
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in Darien on Oct. 8, 2018.

DARIEN, CT — A 45-year-old Bronx man accused of siphoning used cooking oil in 2018 from a business on the Post Road has been arrested, according to a news release from Darien police.
Darien officers responded to the Naugatuck Police Department on Feb. 25 to take custody of the man on an active arrest warrant that charges him with fifth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor.
The warrant stems from an incident that occurred on Oct. 8, 2018, when officers responded to the 1030 block of the Post Road on a report of someone in a white van illegally siphoning used cooking oil from drums located behind a business, police said.

The reporting party gave police the license plate of the van, which came back to the arrestee, police said.
The man told police he was instructed to collect the oil from that location, but when he was asked to come to Darien to provide police with paperwork, he failed to do so, police said.

An arrest warrant was granted for and obtained with a court-set bond of $7,500. The man was released on 10 percent of the bond amount, and is scheduled to appear in court on March 6.
