Man Accused Of Stealing BMW From Dealership Arrested: Darien Police
Police said the arrest stems from an incident that was reported on July 25.

DARIEN, CT — A 27-year-old man accused of stealing a BMW through identity theft from a dealership in town earlier this year surrendered to police on Nov. 21, according to a news release from the Darien Police Department.
Christopher Louis, of Queens, N.Y., was charged in an arrest warrant with first-degree motor vehicle theft, first-degree identity theft and second-degree forgery, police said.
The arrest stems from an incident that was reported on July 25. On that date, an employee from BMW of Darien reported a stolen 2020 BMW M4, police said.

The employee told police they sold the BMW to a man who cleared all background and credit checks, police noted. But the dealership was notified by another dealership in Hartford that the same man was trying to purchase a car from them and the same name was flagged for identity theft.
Police said the dealership contacted the person whose name was used and told him his identity was stolen; he did not purchase the BMW, police added.

A Darien detective was able to develop Louis as a suspect, police said, and an arrest warrant was approved in September.
Louis was released on a written promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 4.
