On Oct. 9, 2025, Darien police officers took a delayed report of a commercial burglary and larceny at Monarch Orthodontics on Noroton Avenue in Darien, police said.

"The investigation determined that Akeem Adelekan unlawfully entered the office on September 12, 2025, and stole a business checkbook," police said. "A forged check for $5,800 was later deposited into an account under a female subject's name, who denied involvement and may be a victim of identity theft."

Darien police detectives and an "interagency cooperation" linked Adelekan to similar burglaries in Harrison, N.Y., police said.

Adelekan, who has a criminal history in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, was located and detained by New Jersey Probation on Feb. 5, police said. He waived extradition and was transported to Darien Police Headquarters on Feb. 18 where he was processed and charged.

Police said Adelekan was unable to post a court-set bond of $250,000. He's scheduled to appear in court on April 9.
