Man Accused Of Throwing Brick Through Trader Joe's Window In Darien: Cops

The incident occurred last week on the Post Road.

DARIEN, CT — A 36-year-old West Warwick, Rhode Island man was arrested on a charge of second-degree criminal mischief on Aug. 8 after he allegedly threw a brick through the window of the Darien Trader Joe's on the Post Road, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at about 1:25 a.m. after a report of breaking glass.

"Arriving Officers observed a small hole in one of the front windows of Trader Joe’s, and a brick just inside the window," wrote police in a statement. "The remainder of the store was checked, and no damage was found. A check of the area revealed a suspect, later identified as Charles Taylor. Video footage was obtained from the adjacent Chase Bank which showed an individual, believed to be Taylor, walking towards the front of Trader Joe’s with a brick in his hand."

Taylor "wouldn’t admit to breaking the window, but offered to pay for it," said police, and he told officers "that he was in need of medical attention" and was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Post 53.

He was issued a misdemeanor summons and was released him on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 18.
