Man Bitten By Dog While Jogging In Darien: PD

Police said the man reported the alleged incident after seeking medical attention.

DARIEN, CT — Police said a man reported being bitten by a dog Saturday while jogging in the area of the Post Road and Saltbox Lane. According to a news release, the unidentified man told officers he was jogging on the sidewalk adjacent to the Post Road as a woman with a dog on a leash was walking toward him.

According to police, the man said he moved from the sidewalk to the roadway in order to avoid the two, however the dog had enough slack on its leash that it was able to lunge at him and bite him on the hamstring as he passed. The man told police he believed the dog was a German Shepard. (To sign up for Darien breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"The complainant stated that the female was on the phone and initially didn’t realize that her dog had bitten him," Detective James Palmieri said in a release. "The female apologized and the two parted without further incident."
