Man Caught Red-Handed Breaking into Darien Resident's Garage: PD
The man confessed that he wanted to steal the resident's vehicle, according to police.

DARIEN, CT—A Bridgeport man admitted to officers that he broke into a resident's garage in an attempt to steal a vehicle Sept. 14.
The Inwood Road resident had opened his garage door with the intent of leaving soon after, police said. The resident walked from his house to the garage and saw a man sitting in his vehicle.
The suspect ran out of the garage and was caught by police on Hoyt Street, according to police.

Five officers responded to the area because the incident took place not long after a couple of burglaries in New Canaan. It doesn't appear that this suspect is connected to those incidents.
He confessed to breaking into the garage in an attempt to steal a vehicle. The resident reported that he usually kept $20 to $30 in cash in the vehicle and that only $1 was left after the incident.

The suspect, identified as Erick Gonzalez-Saavedra, 19, of Bridgeport was found to be in possession of $1 and said money dropped as he ran, police said.
He was transported to Stamford Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after making certain statements to police.
He was charged with second-degree burglary and released on a promise to appear.
