Man Charged With Forgery, Drug Possession: Darien Police
Police said a 32-year-old man was arrested on June 21 in Darien.

DARIEN, CT — A 32-year-old Stamford man is facing forgery and drug charges following a stop in Darien on June 21, according to police.
Johnathan Gomez was arrested and charged with first-degree forgery, improper use of a marker plate, possession of more than 1.5 ounces of marijuana and manufacturing, distributing and selling marijuana.
Police said on June 21 at 12:55 a.m., a Darien police sergeant saw a suspicious car parked in front of a closed business on the Post Road.

When the sergeant approached the car, police said two occupants got out and began yelling.
"The occupants explained that they had a flat tire and pulled into the parking lot to change the tire," police said in a news release.

While speaking with Gomez, who was the driver, police noticed a temporary paper Texas registration tag on the rear windshield, police said, noting that the license plates were expired, and the VIN information did not match.
When questioned about the Texas registration, Gomez said that the father of his friend sold him the car, but later said he purchased the car from a person on social media, police said.
Police smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the car, and they found two packages of commercially sold marijuana and several zip lock bags which contained "green leafy substance," police said.
A digital scale was also found in Gomez's pocket, police said.
Gomez was arrested, charged and released after posting 10 percent of a $1,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear in court on July 6, police said.
A week later on June 28, Gomez was arrested in Stamford after police said he hid stolen guns and drugs in abandoned cars.
Gomez was given a $500,000 bond related to those charges, and is scheduled to appear in court July 12.
