Man Charged With Forgery, Identity Theft: Darien Police
A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an incident of forgery that occurred in Darien in September 2020, police said.

DARIEN, CT — A 24-year-old man was arrested on Aug. 15 and charged in connection with an incident of forgery that occurred nearly two years ago, according to Darien police.
Christopher Johnson, of Norwalk, was charged with third-degree identity theft, third-degree forgery and third-degree criminal attempt at larceny, police said. Johnson was held on a $25,000 court-set bond.
On the afternoon of Sept. 26, 2020, officers responded to Chase Bank on Noroton Avenue on a report of a man trying to complete a fraudulent transaction, police said.

The bank employee told police that the man, later identified as Johnson, tried to cash a check and appeared to be nervous, police said.
Johnson left the bank before the transaction was complete and before officers arrived. He left behind the license he was using to cash the check, police said.

Darien investigators eventually identified Johnson and developed an arrest warrant.
