Man Grabs $200 in Cash from Cash Register Tray at Noroton Heights Station

A clerk told police he left the tray, detached from the cash register, on a counter and had turned away when the money was grabbed.

Darien police are looking for a white man in his late 20s, wearing a black jacket, dark pants and brown shoes.

The man was in the small shop at the Noroton Heights Railroad Station at 8:48 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, when he grabbed some cash that didn’t belong to him.

A store clerk said the cash was in a money tray detached from the cash register and sitting on a counter. The clerk turned away then the money was gone.

The clerk believed the man got onto the 8:49 a.m. train, just a minute later.

There are no video surveillance cameras at either Darien train stations, but there are such cameras on some trains.
