Man Grabs Knives After Words Exchanged at Darien Party: PD

The man grabbed a kitchen knife after having words with other party guests, according to police.

DARIEN, CT—A Hamilton, N.J. man was arrested after he became threatening at a Morley Lane party Aug. 21.

Police responded around 4:38 a.m. on a report of a male with a knife.

David Hobbs, 27, took an interest in a female party goer and saw her talking with someone else, police said.

A witness told officers that Hobbs asked a couple of people if they had ever been in a fight before and more words were exchanged. Hobbs then went into the kitchen and grabbed two knives.

Hobbs admitted to asking people if they had ever been in a fight and said he grabbed a knife after another party goer said he had $4,000, duct tape and that he could make him disappear.

The man who made the comment said it was in the heat of the moment and that he didn't have duct tape nor $4,000.

Hobbs was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a $250 bond.
