Man Stole Company Van, Charged With Larceny: Darien Police

Police said a 74-year-old Rocky Hill man stole a company van in Darien on June 16.

DARIEN, CT — A 74-year-old man was arrested last week after police said he stole a company van in Darien.

Reginald Wilson, of Rocky Hill, CT, was charged with first-degree larceny and criminal trover damage to a motor vehicle. He was held on a $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court June 27.

According to police, on June 16 at approximately 5:44 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Tulip Tree Lane in Darien on a report of a stolen vehicle.

"An employee working on scene stated that a coworker, identified as Reginald Wilson, stole keys from the work van and drove off with the 2021 Ford Transit van without his knowledge," Darien police said in a news release. "The employee told officers that Wilson did not have permission to drive any company vehicle nor did he have a license."

Police said the owner of the van received a call from a patron at a restaurant on the Post Road who reported the driver of the company van "appeared to be operating under the influence."

While officers were still at the residence on Tulip Tree Lane, Norwalk police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving the stolen van, police said. There were no injuries reported.

Darien officers responded to the scene in Norwalk and placed Wilson under arrest, police said.
