More Details Released in Darien Mass Car Theft Case

A total of 4 vehicles were stolen in Darien Monday. Police in another town chased down the suspects on foot after a vehicle pursuit.

DARIEN, CT - Manchester police said they recovered a Jeep stolen from Darien and arrested three teens who ran from the vehicle after it was spotted in a busy shopping district.

On Monday at about 11:30 a.m., Manchester Police were contacted by an off-duty Hartford police officer, who was on Buckland Street following a gray Jeep Cherokee that had recently been stolen in Darien, according to a report.

A total of 10 vehicles in Darien were burglarized Monday and four were stolen. So far three have been recovered.

As Manchester Police units arrived, the Jeep stopped in front of Buffalo Wild Wings on Buckland Street, and all four occupants fled from the vehicle and scattered in different directions, according to a report.

With assistance from the Hartford officer, MPD officers were able to locate and apprehend all four individuals, according to a report. Three were arrested by Manchester Police and the fourth, who was driving the stolen vehicle, was turned over to the Hartford Police Department for an incident there, police said.

All three taken into MPD custody were charged with interfering with police because they ran away when ordered to stop by police.

Arrested were Katarina Harris, 19, of Beach St., New Britain, Gerald Jackson, 19, of Humphrey St., Hartford, and a 15-year-old from Hartford, police said.

Harris and Jackson were released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and both were given court dates of Aug. 9. police said. The juvenile was released to his mother and referred to juvenile court, police said.
