Middlesex Hosts Its First History Bowl Competition
Following up on the great success of their Quiz Bowl tTournaments, Middlesex recently hosted its first History Bowl competition.
Middlesex Middle School recently hosted its first History Bowl. The event was similar to MMS own Quiz Bowl competition, The Charter Oak Scholastic Open held for the 4th consecutive year this past January, however, the questions focused entirely on history questions.
Many of MMS quiz bowl players competed in the event, as well as, teams from Bethel, Greenwich, Wilton, Tenafly (NJ), and Tuckahoe (NY). In total, there were 16 teams competing, 5 of which were from Middlesex.
The tournament consisted of 5 preliminary matches in the morning, with only the top four teams reaching the playoffs in the afternoon. In a show of dominance, the four teams that qualified for the playoffs were all from Middlesex.

The morning ended with three of our teams undefeated and the other two an impressive 4 -1. It’s worth noting that the only losses those Middlesex teams suffered were to other Middlesex teams. MMS Quiz Bowl and History Bowl Coaches Ken Romeo and Barbara Ivey are extremely proud of the Middlesex team’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th place finishes.
