More Than $20k Taken During Darien Daytime Burglary
Residents had left the same day to go out of state on vacation, police said.

A Darien residence was ransacked on the day homeowners went on vacation, according to police.
Police got a report Dec. 4 that a family member and children left the Oak Crest home at 2 p.m. to travel out of state on vacation. Another adult family member arrived home around 7:30 p.m. and noticed that the patio doors were wide open. He assumed someone broke in but that nothing was taken because a laptop was still in plain sight, police said.
The family called police later from out of state and police responded to the home.
Officers canvassed the home and noted that a desktop computer, headphones, jewelry and vases were taken. The total amount of property taken exceeds $20,000.
Another burglary occurred d on Oak Crest the same day, police said. They are following up on both cases.
