Much-Needed Soaking Rain for Days in Connecticut’s Forecast
Connecticut is in the midst of a severe drought and significant relief is on the way. We'll let you know how much rain is expected.

Finally, Connecticut is about to see some drought-busting rain, and it could last for days, according to an updated forecast for the state. Most of Connecticut is considered to be in the midst of a moderate to severe drought status.
The upcoming rainstorm won’t end the drought all by itself but it will definitely help. It looks like Connecticut can expect rain beginning on Tuesday and running through Thursday. By the time the rain ends most of the state will see between 1-2 inches, and some areas could see up to three inches of rain, according to projections by local meteorologists.
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote, “Finally - a soaking rain is in the forecast! Right now 1"-2" Tuesday through Thursday is a good bet with a chance for more. Take a look at the latest computer models on my updated blog post.”

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Darren Sweeney wrote, “Finally, some much-needed rain is on the way. Lately, any beneficial rain has been only for parts of the state, Some towns and cities miss out completely. It looks like we'll see a decent setup for a widespread soaking rain. This will come in two waves. Tuesday into Wednesday and then later Wednesday into Thursday."
“Statewide rain totals of 1-2" look likely with at least a chance some towns see up to 3" (the heavier rain total scenario is one we'll watch to evolve over the next couple of days). Overall, this is good news. We need to get the water tables up across the northeast. This will not end the drought entirely, but a solid soaking is exactly what we need,” Sweeney wrote on his Facebook page.
