Museum of Darien Holds “Raise the Roof” Capital Fundraising Campaign

Critical Funds Needed for Historic Building and Research Library

July 15, 2025, Darien, CT – The Museum of Darien, home of the Darien Historical Society is seeking donations for its critical “Raise the Roof” Capital Fundraising Campaign. Contributions to the campaign will fund replacing the aging roof system on both the historic Bates-Scofield House, c. 1736, and the Museum of Darien’s research library.

A grant received from the 1772 Foundation and Preservation Connecticut, along with generous gifts from museum members and the community have raised forty thousand dollars. An additional $20,000 is needed to complete the roofing project by the end of August.

The Museum is asking the community to help preserve one of the most important and vital places in Darien’s history by making a tax-deductible donation this summer via the museum’s website at museumofdarien.org.

All “Raise the Roof” donors will be thanked at a special reception following the project’s completion, with additional recognition on the Museum of Darien website and a donor appreciation plaque in the Museum. Please help to preserve Darien’s town history by supporting the Museum of Darien today.
