Narcan Training Being Offered In Darien This Week

The session is designed to teach participants how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and respond in an emergency.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Health Department and Darien Emergency Medical Services Post 53 are offering a free Narcan training for residents this week as part of a statewide opioid overdose prevention effort.

The training is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Post 53, located at 0 Ledge Road.

Distributed information notes the session is being held in recognition of National Public Health Week and is part of Connecticut’s "Save a Life Day" initiative.

Attendees will receive instruction on how to administer naloxone, commonly known by the brand name Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. A limited number of free naloxone kits will be distributed to participants.

The training will be led by members of Post 53.
