Narcotics Arrest In Darien Park: Police

The incident occurred on Sept. 5.

DARIEN, CT — A 21-year-old Stamford man was arrested on charges of possession and sale of marijuana in Darien's Woodland Park on Sept. 5, according to police.

The incident began just after 10 p.m. on the 5th when the park was closed, and an officer saw a vehicle parked in the lot.

"The officer pulled into the lot to investigate. He first made contact with three individuals sitting on a bench, and immediately detected the odor of burn marijuana," wrote Darien police in a statement. "When questioned, the individuals admitted to the officer that they had just finished smoking marijuana. It was determined they had no contraband on them at the time of the encounter. The officers then made contact with the two occupants of the parked vehicle, where he again detected the odor of marijuana. K9 'Argo' initiated a 'free air sniff' of the exterior of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search revealed a bag containing a quantity of marijuana, a quantity of cash, a scale, rubber bands, and empty baggies. These items, in combination, are typically indicative of the sale of marijuana."
