Legendary Connecticut TV Meteorologist Confirms Retirement
Brad Field has been a fixture on the Connecticut airwaves for 34 years.

Brad Field, NBC Connecticut News' chief meteorologist, announced his retirement Friday in a Facebook post, confirming he is stepping down after 34 years at the station.
News of Field's retirement from the station was first reported by The Laurel, and he says that he is leaving this summer. "It's my time to enjoy the fruits of a career of which I am immensely proud, and spend more time with my family and friends," wrote Field on his Facebook page. "NBC Connecticut management has worked effectively with me toward the goal of retiring this summer, and I cannot thank them enough."

He continued, "I love the people of Connecticut – ultimately it’s our citizens that we do this job for and I thank them for their loyalty year after year. I am deeply touched by the outpouring of appreciation and respect for a job I always did to the best of my ability.
"And so, I move on. For the first time in my married life, the very next snowstorm I will take a walk hand in hand with my wife Sandy, who has stood solidly by my side and done more than her fair share in raising our sons, Curt and Connor, into the kind and good men that they have become.

"At the television station, the weather staff has never been stronger. Under the leadership of Bob and Ryan, we are poised for Connecticut television weather greatness!"
Field has spent his whole life in New England, working for stations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts before Connecticut, and graduating with a bachelor of science degree in meteorology from the College of Pure and Applied Science at the University of Lowell, in Lowell, MA.
"Brad has been honored for his coverage of Hurricane Gloria in 1985 and received the AP Award for NBC Connecticut's coverage of the blizzards of 1995 and 1996," according to his bio at NBC Connecticut.

He was also recently inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle for 25 years of service to Connecticut, according to his bio. NBC Connecticut's other meteorologists include: Ryan Hanrahan, Bob Maxon, Darren Sweeney, Kaitlyn McGrath, and Josh Cingranelli.
