Neighbors Cause Road Project in Darien to Be Redesigned

The Intervale Road drainage project was approved in 2013.

Complications with neighbors have forced the Darien Department of Public Works to modify the Intervale Road drainage project.

The Darien Times is reporting that project which was approved in 2013 has been delayed for more than a year while the town tried to get temporary and permanent easements in the neighborhood.

Flooding has long been an issue for some of the neighbors, but some of those who could grant an easement are not affected.

Engineers redesigned the project to circumvent properties the owners of which wouldn’t agree to easements.

The Times said the project was originally to cost $1.5 million. The design changes will up the cost $300,000.
