Patient-Focused, Highly Personalized...New Concierge Medicine Practice Opens in Darien

Internal medicine physician Amanda Collins-Baine, MD offers a unique patient experience at her newly established Darien concierge practice

An internal medicine practitioner for almost two decades, Amanda Collins-Baine, MD is opening the doors to her concierge medical practice, Darien Signature Health, providing full primary care within a highly personalized experience for patients.

“Concierge medicine provides the best possible solution to navigating today’s complex healthcare landscape,” says Dr. Collins-Baine. “There will be more time to address individual patient concerns and serve as their advocate, whenever and wherever needed…at the office or hospital, or at their home when necessary.”

Darien Signature Health reflects the hallmarks of concierge, also known as membership, medicine, beginning with a smaller patient panel that will enable Dr. Collins-Baine to offer longer, unhurried appointments, ensure personal and timely contact after hours and on weekends, and include direct access to her personal cell phone and email address. In addition, each patient receives an in-depth Comprehensive Wellness Evaluation annually, serving as the foundation for a personalized wellness plan.

More time to strengthen the relationships formed with patients is at the core of Dr. Collins-Baine’s decision to change to a concierge medicine practice. “I’ve known many of my patients and their families for years, sometimes spanning several generations,” she says. “The ability to see them through some of the most difficult times in their lives is the reason I became a physician, and has become increasingly difficult to sustain in a traditional practice. It’s not possible to offer the emotional support and understanding patients need – and deserve– with one hand on the doorknob, rushing to see the next patient.”

The caring, personalized support provided by Dr. Collins-Baine is the reason Norwalk resident Dawn S became one of the first patients to sign on at Darien Signature Health. “I have total confidence in Dr. Collins-Baine and she understands me thoroughly. She’s seen me through a number of issues, and always helped me to find the right solution, the right specialists or programs. I realize the value of having a physician who knows and understands me.”

When Dawn learned of the change to a concierge practice, she didn’t hesitate. “Being able to call Dr. Collins-Baine when I need to, at any time, and knowing she will be there gives me great peace of mind. She has always provided wonderful care, but now it’ll be even better.”

Concierge medical practices are rapidly gaining in popularity nationwide, as physicians seek to enhance the vital physician-patient relationship, according to Specialdocs Consultants, LLC, a national health care consulting firm assisting Dr. Collins-Baine with her transition. “We believe the concierge medicine model makes it possible for physicians to practice medicine the way it was intended to be practiced, and is key to restoring primary care,” says Terrence Bauer, CEO, Specialdocs. Recent research on concierge medical practices point to significant decreases in emergency room visits and inpatient admissions and positive outcomes in terms of improved health and lower healthcare expenditures, according to Bauer.

“I’m thrilled, and grateful, for the opportunity to deliver on the promise of patient-focused, fully personalized care that is at the heart of concierge medicine,” says Dr. Collins-Baine.
