New Darien Police Officer Graduates From Academy

Officer Cody Harwood-Smith will now begin a comprehensive field training program, the Darien Police Department said.

DARIEN, CT — One of Darien's newest police officers graduated from the State Police Academy this week, the Darien Police Department announced on Facebook.

Officer Cody Harwood-Smith graduated along with 48 other classmates who represent dozens of CT police departments. Harwood-Smith attended the academy for six months of rigorous basic training, and will now begin a comprehensive field training program on Saturday which will last several months, the department said.

Harwood-Smith was sworn in in April. He came to the DPD after working the last 10 years as a personal trainer at a local gym.
