New Horror Film Starring Julia Stiles Takes Place In Darien

"Orphan: First Kill," a prequel to the popular 2009 horror film "Orphan," released in theaters on Aug. 19.

DARIEN, CT — "Orphan: First Kill," a new movie starring Isabelle Fuhrman and Julia Stiles, serves as a prequel to the popular 2009 cult classic horror movie "Orphan" and takes place in Darien.

The movie was released in theaters on Aug. 19, and is available to stream with a subscription on Paramount+, or rent/buy on other streaming services.

Esther, who is played by Fuhrman, escapes from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing child of Tricia and Allen Albright, played by Stiles and Rossif Sutherland. Esther went missing four years ago and was never found.

Esther's sudden reappearance raises concerns with her therapist (Samantha Walkes) and a detective (Hiro Kanagawa). An unexpected twist occurs that pits the murderous Esther against Tricia who will protect her family at any cost.

The Albrights are described as a wealthy family that lives in Darien, according to a review from the Daily Beast. Tricia works with charities and Allen is a painter.

However, the movie database website IMDb says the movie was filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
