New Virtual Art Workshops from Darien Arts Center

Art Boxes Delivered to Homes for Grades 1 through 5

In this time of social distancing and home schooling, the Darien Arts Center is providing creative activities for the community through new offerings taught via Zoom. Grades 1 through 5 can now sign up for the brand new ArtBox Workshops, which include a week of two virtual art workshops and home delivery of materials needed (Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk and Stamford delivery only). Participants learn steps in the watercolor process to create works inspired by impressionists and create an Alexander Calder inspired hanging mobile. The ArtBox workshops take place from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 23. Fee for the week is $45 and includes materials and delivery.

The Afternoon Doodles Workshop, Under The Sea: Create a Magical Underwater World of Fun with Colorful Collaging, takes place on Wednesday, April 22, from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. Artist and instructor Nancy McTague-Stock will lead the workshop using participants’ household items to create this fun collage project. Fee for this workshop for grades 3 and up is $10.

New live virtual art workshops for adults include From the Kitchen with Nancy McTague-Stock on Tuesday, April 21 from 10-11a.m. McTague-Stock will lead participants on how to draw a still life, using anything from the kitchen, whether it is a bowl of fruit or flowers, or whatever is on hand. Fee for this adult workshop is $10.
