Noroton Yacht Club Member Competing in Rio Paralympics
Rick Doerr became a paraplegic after a 1992 car accident, but that didn't stop him from pursuing his love of sailing.
DARIEN, CT—Noroton Yacht Club member Rick Doerr is competing in the Rio Paralympics sonar sailing event.
Doerr became a paraplegic after a 1992 car accident, according to the Darien Times. He sailed before the accident and took part in the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.
Doerr is also a hand surgeon when he isn't training for the games.
