Noroton Yacht Club Pushes for Liquor Permit

Some neighbors have expressed reservations about the permit. The club insists it will bring more control to who can drink at the club.

DARIEN, CT- The Norton Yacht Club is still seeking a liquor permit amidst some reservations from neighbors.

Some members of the Noroton Bay neighborhood objected to the permit, according to the Darien Times.

Representatives of the club said changing to a liquor permit over the bring your own alcohol policy will allow more control and compliance over who is allowed to drink on site. A club manager and bartender would be responsible for those duties.

A lawyer for the club said the notion that a liquor permit would increase consumption is speculative and that the BYOB policy is unregulated by the state.

The club is also seeking a redevelopment that would make the facility more resistant to flooding.
