Norwalk Man Arrested On Drug Dealing Charge In Darien: Police

The incident occurred on Aug. 22.

DARIEN, CT — A 29-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on charges of sale of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and other offenses on the morning of Aug. 22 after Darien police found 4.32 ounces of marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to authorities.

Jason W. Pratt, of Yost Street, was pulled over on Tokeneke Road near Silver Lakes Drive after an officer saw that Pratt's vehicle lacked a front license plate, had overly tinted windows, and had a rear license plate that was covered and virtually unreadable.

"While speaking with Pratt, the officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle," wrote Darien police in a statement. "The officer also observed what appeared to be a 'blunt' marijuana-cigarette in the door armrest of the driver’s door."

Pratt allegedly told police that he had a medical marijuana card that authorized him to have as much as 2.5 ounces of the drug in his possession. The card Pratt produced had expired in 2017, but officers checked and discovered that the card was valid.

At the scene, Darien police dog "Kenny" conducted a free-air sniff of the exterior of the Pratt's black Infiniti sedan and alerted officers that narcotics were present.
