Update: Police Arrest Alleged Darien Serial Car Burglar
There have been more than 20 car burglaries in the past two weeks. At least some are believed to be connected.

Darien Police announced Wednesday that they arrested a suspected car burglar after a wave of crimes in town.
Police were on patrol after 3 a.m. August 19 on Hollow Tree Ridge Road when they observed a vehicle parked in the road on Patton Drive. It appeared that an unknown person was sattmepting to steal the Ford F-150 pickup truck from a nearby driveway.
The suspect fled the scene while leaving the vehicle in the roadway, police said.

Police then discovered that eight unlocked vehicles on Patton Drive and Charles Street had been burglarized. It was the second time in six days that vehicles on Patton Drive had been burglarized.
Darien Police have investigated more than 20 burglaries of unlocked cars in Darien during the past two weeks.

Police located Joel Mackinnon, 48, of Stamford on the westbound Noroton Heights Train Station platform. He had active warrants for his arrest out of Stamford for failing to appear in court, police said.
Officer placed him under arrest and took him into custody. They recovered items that were from car burglaries.
He was charged with first-degree larceny, eight counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of sixth-degree larceny and two counts of second-degree failure to appear.
He is being held on a $28,500 bond.
The investigation remains active and police are checking to see if there are connections to past incidents.
