Wilma Mary Sanford, age 91, of Darien, CT passed away peacefully on October 12, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Wilma was born on November 28, 1926 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
After marrying her husband, Lloyd, in 1945, she came to America. Wilma was the proud owner of the Darien Pet Shop for over 40 years and was fondly known as the “the Pet Shop lady”. She was a devout Christian having served as Deaconess at Evangelical Community Church for many years. Wilma had a giving heart and lived by her faith in Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Bendkowski and husband Dan of Ansonia, CT and her grandchildren Jeremy and Rachel whom she cherished greatly.

She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd and daughter Elizabeth Sanford.
A memorial service in celebration of Wilma’s life will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Evangelical Community Church, 1155 Newfield Avenue in Stamford.
