Officers Recover Stolen Car After Crash: Darien Police
Police said the crash occurred in the early morning hours of May 26 in Darien.

DARIEN, CT — Police said they recovered a stolen car after a crash occurred in Darien early last Thursday.
Around 3:20 a.m. on May 26, a Darien police sergeant saw two cars traveling fast towards Norwalk, police said. An officer in the area saw the cars on the Post Road approaching the Darien Duchess.
The first car lost control and drove onto the grass island at a nearby intersection before sideswiping a traffic pole then hitting a street sign, police said. The car then slid across the road and came to a final stop in a wooded area off the road.

There was heavy damage to the car, and the driver was missing, police added.
Authorities from surrounding towns, including a K9 unit, searched the area, but were still unable to locate the driver of the crashed car, police said.

Officers checked the license plate and discovered the car was stolen out of Meriden. The car was towed away and processed by the Meriden Police Department, police said.
The second car, which was located nearby, entered I-95 and sped away.
