PD: $10k in Fraud Charges Made After Wallet Stolen in Darien

The thief or thieves are apparently big fans of the Apple Store and Saks Fifth Ave.

A woman whose wallet was stolen at the Darien Panera Nov. 11 had more than $10,000 in fraudulent charges made to her credit cards in the same day.

The woman was dining at Panera between 1 and 3:30 p.m. and left her seat to pick up her food. Her $300 went missing along with credit cards, debit cards

Later on in the day her credit card company called her to report suspicious activity. A total of three credit cards and a debit card were used

The following charges were made on her credit cards:

  • $3,340 at Saks Fifth Avenue in Greenwich shortly before 3 p.m.
  • $796 at Greenwich Apple Store at 3:05 p.m.
  • $850 at Apple Store at 3:10 p.m.
  • $796 Apple Store at 3:11 p.m.
  • Saks Fifth Avenue $3,609 at 3:30 p.m.
  • A charge for $3,609 was declined at Saks Fifth Avenue at 3:36 p.m.
  • Apple Store $796 at 4:12 p.m.

Darien detectives are working with the involved stores.
