Darien Girls Volleyball Wins 10th Straight FCIAC Title
The Blue Wave swept no. 2 Ridgfield to improve to 21-0.

The beat goes on for the Darien girls volleyball team.
Charlett Stevenson recorded 11 service points and 10 aces Saturday as the Blue Wave rolled to their 10th consecutive FCIAC title with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-19 victory over No. 2 Ridgefield at Fairfield Ludowe.
Darien (21-0) recorded its 19th sweep in 21 matches this season and will begin a quest for a 10th state title in 11 years next week. Last year, the Blue Wave were dethroned as CIAC Class L state chamions by East Lyme.

But Darien hasn't missed a beat this season, once again rolling through its schedule.
Nina Preston had 14 assists, four service points, three digs and one ace for Darien while Riley Sousa added 12 assists, seven digs, four service points and an ace.

After dropping the first two sets, Ridgefield tried to make it match, pulling within 12-11 in the third set. But Darien never relinquished the lead and closed things out on its second match point.
Ridgefield dropped to 18-3 overall with two of the three losses coming to Darien.
Olivia Prehodka contributed five digs, three kills, three service points, two aces and two assists for the Tigers. Lauren Liederbach chipped in with four kills, four service points and two digs.
Since 2001, Darien has lost only four matches. In the state it will look to close out its seventh undefeated season since 2003 and 12th under coach Laurie La Russo, who has won 20 FCIAC and 15 state titles at Darien.
