Police: Diapers Price Swapped for Pie Crust at Darien Stop & Shop

Surveillance video shows the subject with two large boxes of diapers at the self-checkout.

Darien police received the complaint of a larceny from Stop & Shop located on 25 Old Kings Highway on April 1.

According to police, the complainant stated that the subject was spotted at the location on March 19 at 6:20 p.m.

The person who made the report is part of the store’s loss prevention team and is familiar with the subject, who is known for price swapping, police said. The subject price swapped two large boxes of diapers worth $69.98 with pie crust that totaled $1.04 at the self-checkout.

Detective Mark Cappelli said he doesn’t know why there was a delay in reporting the incident.

The incident is currently under investigation.
