Porsche, BMW Stolen in Darien

One owner was fortunate to have the vehicle recovered in good condition.

DARIEN, CT — A Porsche and BMW were stolen from Darien recently, according to police.

The 2017 BMW X3 was taken in the overnight hours between April 4 and 5 on Shield Road. It was equipped with a GPS system which showed a location in Waterbury. Waterbury Police went to the location and found the vehicle.

It was recovered in good condition with no apparent damage, police said. The investigation into who stole it continues.

The owner of a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S hasn't been as fortunate yet. The $50,000 vehicle was taken from Oak Crest in the overnight hours between April 8 and 9. It was left unlocked with the keys inside, police said.

The owner and neighbors didn't report hearing or seeing anything unusual around the time the theft occurred.

"Other motor vehicle burglaries were reported in this same area and are potentially connected to this stolen motor vehicle," said Capt. Donald Anderson.
