Post Office Renews Downtown Lease

The USPS has opted for a "long-term" renewal of its 30 Corbin Dr. facility.

The US Postal Service may have to grapple with rain, snow, heat, and the gloom of night, but one thing it won't have to worry about in Darien is a change of venue.

According to David Genovese, CEO of Baywater Properties, the USPS has opted for a "long-term" lease renewal of its facility at 30 Corbin Dr.

"We are pleased that the US Postal Service will continue to serve the residents and businesses of Darien from this downtown location," Genovese said in a statement.

The property has been owned by an affiliate of Baywater since the summer of 2007, when it was acquired alongside 10 Corbin Dr., 17 Old Kings Hwy. S, and 33 Old Kings Hwy. S.

"The Post Office has been closing facilities around the country and in many downtowns surrounding Darien over the last few years, including Greenwich, Westport and Stamford," Genovese added. "This facility serves a real need in our community, and we are pleased that we were able to work out an acceptable agreement with the USPS."
