Purse Stolen From Car, Credit Card Used At Mall: Darien Police

Police said the owner of the stolen purse later received a text message informing her of fraudulent activity on her credit card.

DARIEN, CT — A woman's purse was stolen from her car while it was parked in Darien last week, and her credit card was later used at a store outside of town, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Dan Skoumbros said officers were called to a parking lot on the Post Road on Feb. 10 after receiving a report of a burglary.

A woman told police she parked her car around 6 p.m. that night and discovered her purse was missing when she returned to the vehicle. Later that evening, she received a text message informing her of fraudulent activity on her credit card, Skoumbros said.

According to Skoumbros, the woman said her credit card was used at a Foot Locker store in the Stamford Mall.
