Republican Member Resigns From Darien Board Of Education
The Darien Board of Education will hold an election to fill the vacated spot.
DARIEN, CT — Darien Board of Education member Tara Wurm has resigned after serving nearly two years of a three-year term.
Her resignation was announced and accepted during last week's regularly scheduled school board meeting. Fellow member David Brown opposed the resignation.
Wurm, a Republican and a former member of the Representative Town Meeting, was first elected to the Darien Board of Education in 2021. She also previously volunteered within the school system as PTO Chair at Royle and president of Darien Advocates for the Education of the Gifted.

"For those of us that sit on the board, it's not an easy role. We are volunteers, it's incredibly time-consuming, we're parents, we're neighbors, and Tara served with us for the last almost two years," Dineen said. "We wish her well, I'm sorry to see her go. She was passionate about curriculum and literacy, and she was a contributing member of the board. We wish her well in her endeavors and thank her very much for serving on the board."
The board is expected to hold an election for a replacement during its next scheduled meeting on Sept. 26. A special meeting could also be called.
The replacement must be from the same political party as the member who resigned. The board can consult with the Darien Republican Town Committee for its recommendation.
