Robbery Suspect Nabbed By Darien Police
The alleged incident occurred on the evening of Feb. 4.

DARIEN, CT — A 21-year-old Brooklyn, NY man was arrested on robbery, assault and larceny charges on Feb. 4 after he and an accomplice allegedly stole more than $1,600 worth of items from the Walgreens on Heights Road, according to Darien police.
The suspect is accused of striking a store employee in the head during the incident, which caused minor injuries. The suspect's accomplice was not apprehended and remains at-large.
Officers were called to the scene at about 6:30 p.m. on a report of an assault and discovered it had been part of a robbery. The two suspects had run off, but one them, later identified as Keston M. Charles, was apprehended nearby, but when asked by police about the accomplice, all Charles said was that his name was "Q."

"The victim stated he observed two males walk into the store with nothing in their hands," wrote Darien Police Det. James Palmieri in a statement. "A short time later, they were seen walking out of the store with a garbage bag full of items. The victim followed the two men out of the store and into the parking lot, where he confronted them. It was at this point that the victim stated he was struck in the head by one of the men, causing him to fall to the ground. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result. The victim stated they did not actually see the suspect strike him as had been speaking with the second suspect who had possession of the garbage bag. Several eyewitnesses corroborated the victim’s version of events."

Charles was held in lieu of bail of $100,000 and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court at a later date.
