Route 1 Bridge Replacement in Darien Could Take 2 Years

Lane closures are anticipated when the project begins. The project will likely start in 2017.

DARIEN, CT- A bridge replacement over the Noroton River could close direct access to Route 1 from small private road Brookside Drive for a year.

The project is expected to begin in early 2017 and could take 24 months to finish, according to the Darienite. Brookside Drive residents would use Anthony Lane and Hillside Avenue instead.

Police Capt. Donald Anderson said the bridge is in significant disrepair and is far beyond its useful life. Route 1 would be limited to one lane out of Darien and two lanes into Darien.
