Connecticut Magazine asked its readers for their favorite restaurants in a host of categories.

If your New Year's Resolution for 2017 is to eat better, then you could say that Connecticut Magazine has your back.

In its annual list of reader's choices for Connecticut's best restaurants, the magazine cites dozens of wonderful eateries throughout the state in a host of categories.

For example, the best overall restaurant in Connecticut? Sal e Pepe in Newtown, according to Connecticut Magazine readers. The runner-up is S&P Oyster Co. in Mystic.

Like French cuisine? The state's best French restaurant is New Haven's Union League Cafe, and the runner-up is Bernard’s in Ridgefield.

Does your taste turn to sushi? The best in Connecticut is at Toro in Newtown, while the next best is served at Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Café in Westport. Or how about burgers? Then readers selected The White Horse Pub in New Preston, followed by Match in Norwalk.
