Safe Pried Open, Jewelry Stolen From Darien Home: Police

Police said the home's back door was shattered and both a safe and locked closet door inside the home were pried open during the burglary.

DARIEN, CT — Several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen from a Darien home during a burglary last week, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Dan Skoumbros said officers responded to a Half Mile Road home on Jan. 19 around 7 p.m. after the home's burglar alarm was activated. Officers checked outside the home and discovered a back door had been shattered.

According to Skoumbros, the homeowner told officers they had not been home for several weeks and reported several pieces of jewelry missing from a safe located in an office closet.

Both the safe and the locked closet door had been pried open, Skoumbros said. Police continue to investigate the reported burglary.
