Security System Disabled in Darien Burglary
Residents came home from vacation to find their home ransacked.

DARIEN, CT— The security system of a home on Tower Drive was disable and the house ransacked during a burglary, police said.
Residents came home July 12 and found that they couldn't disarm the home's security system. They had been gone since July 9 on vacation.

A burglar or burglars attempted to gain access through a sliding glass door on the rear deck, but it couldn't be fully opened due to wooden dowels being placed inside.
The front door was cracked and splintered during the forced entry.

A front office and several bedrooms were ransacked. Items of value were left behind, but residents are working to take a full inventory of items.
The security system's control panel was opened and wires were ripped out and the battery backup was disconnected. The alarm company confirmed it didn't get a signal.
No other residences in the area were reported to be burglarized.
