Seniors, Sign up with At Home in Darien for Free Leaf Raking, Snow Shoveling
At Home in Darien will match seniors with volunteers who can rake leaves and shovel driveways and walkways.

While leaf raking and snow shoveling can be good exercise, it is often a tiring and sometimes hazardous chore for seniors to do themselves.
At Home In Darien is pleased to organize the annual fall leaf raking and winter snow shoveling program and match volunteers to senior residents who are in need of, and greatly appreciate, this assistance.
These volunteer services can be helpful in allowing Darien residents to continue living confidently in their homes and our community as they grow older, without the worry of doing these chores by themselves.

At Home In Darien is requesting that seniors who are interested in having their leaves raked and/or their public sidewalks shoveled by volunteers, contact our office before October 15th.
“In the midst of warm summer weather, we’ve been planning and readying for leaves and snow to fall,” remarked Gina Blum, At Home In Darien Executive Director. “Last year the demand for assistance was significant, so we are working to recruit new volunteers. We also ask that seniors think ahead, and contact us as soon as possible with their requests.”

Nicky Wildish, Darien High School Senior and Snow Shoveling Program Volunteer Coordinator, commented, “Based on the great success of the volunteer program last year, I can’t wait to get started and have the program reach the next level. I’m excited about our new members and if we get the same amount of snow as last year we’ll surely need them!”
