Several Seats Vacant On Darien Volunteer Boards And Commissions

DARIEN, CT — There are several seats open on various Darien boards and commissions, allowing residents to serve the community.

According to the town website, the vacancies include:

• Advisory Committee on Sustainability (2)
• Affordable Housing Trust Fund (3)
• Beautification Commission (2)
• Darien Gov. Access TV Advisory Committee (TV79) (1)
• Darien Housing Authority (1)
• Environmental Protection Commission (1)
• Monuments & Ceremonies Commission (1)

To serve on a board or commission, residents must be a registered voter in Darien.

Registered Democrats or Republicans should complete the common application and then contact the Democratic Town Committee (DTC) or the Republican Town Committee (RTC).

Nominations to a board or commission are approved and forwarded by the RTC or DTC to the Board of Selectmen. The selectmen then meet with each candidate prior to making an appointment, the town website notes.

Unaffiliated and Independent voters may also seek appointment by coming directly to the Board of Selectmen. These residents should complete the common application and email Linda O'Leary in the Office of the Selectmen.
