Shake Shack Still Faces Hurdles in Darien
The restaurant's plan passed through the Planning and Zoning Commission, but it still faces another obstacle.
DARIEN, CT- The Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve Shake Shack's application for a restaurant on the Post Road, but it will still have to pass through the Zoning Board of Appeals.
ZBA has hired a consultant to do a peer review regarding proposed signage, according to the Darienite. The burger chain wants signs that would be 22 inches high and the largest allowed in the are are 10 inches.
Planning and Zoning is going to take a comprehensive look at signage regulations, but that won't happen for months. Until then ZBA has to work within current regulations.
