DARIEN, CT- Residents will have to look elsewhere for tasty burgers and shakes after Shake Shack pulled its zoning application and walked away from the proposal.
Shake Shack requested signage variances last week and the Darien Zoning Board of Appeal denied it, according to Darien Times.

Developer David Genovese said there are many signs in the proposed area near 1340 Post Road that are non-conforming and that 10-inch letters wouldn't work on a four-lane road where the speed limit is 35 mph.
The logos would've used 24-inch lettering and have LED illumination, which isn't allowed in the zone.

The board asked if Shake Shack could provide information and models on the proposed signs and demonstrate a hardship that would necessitate the signs, but Shake Shack opted to close the hearing.
