Shoplifting Arrest Made In Darien: PD
The accused allegedly snatched more than $150 worth of items from a local pharmacy.

DARIEN, CT — A 42-year-old Stamford man was arrested on a charge of sixth-degree larceny last week after he alleged swiped more about $167 worth of items from the Walgreens pharmacy on Heights Road in Darien, according to police.
James Coates was apprehended at the nearby Stop and Shop on Heights Road after a store loss prevention employee noticed that he had merchandise stuffed under his coat. He had walked up to a cashier with several items in a shopping cart, but said he didn't have any money, left the cart and tried to leave the store when he was stopped.
"Coates admitted to the loss prevention employee that he had stolen [the items under his coat] from neighboring Walgreens," wrote Darien police in a statement. "The items were various health and beauty aids, as well as deodorant. Officers questioned Coates in regards to the above, to which he confessed."
